¡Pues eso querid@ lector@! Konami empieza a escuchar, aunque de momento sea de forma leve, lo que los Suikofans tenemos que decir. Gracias al esfuerzo y peticiones de muchos de nosotros en su propia página de facebook o twitter, parece que por lo menos se han dado cuenta que Suikoden sigue muy vivo, y ¡con ganas por parte de sus seguidores de mucho más!

That's it, dear reader! Konami starts listening what Suikofans have to say, but for now in a mild way. Thanks to the efforts and requests of many of us, in Konami's Facebook or Twitter pages, it seems that at least they have realized that Suikoden is very much alive, and with the desire of their fans for much more!
 

Por ello Konami hace unos días ha escrito un anuncio a los Suikofans explicando que DE MOMENTO no hay novedades acerca de la saga Suikoden. Aquí os dejo una copia de la carta y la traducción de la misma al castellano. ¡La esperanza es lo último que se pierde!

So please, continue to let your opinion be heard! We are listening.

And for those that haven't had the pleasure of experiencing this classic RPG series, Suikoden 1 is currently available for download as a PS1 Classic on PlayStation Network.

Primeramente, mi queridísimo lector, tengo que desearte un ¡Feliz Año Nuevo! Primera entrada del año, y qué menos que tenerte algo en consideración, ¡faltaría menos! Seguro que será un gran año para todos, en el que ocurrirán cosas increíbles, ¡no te quepa la menor duda!

First, my dear reader, I have to wish you a Happy New Year! First entry of the year, and I have to take you into some consideration, of course! Sure that it will be a great year for everyone, where amazing things will happen, do not doubt it fo a second!

Bueno, hoy voy a escribir un artículo no demasiado extenso sobre las publicaciones en formato libro que han ido apareciendo durante estos últimos años, y que no tienen como contenido exclusivo a nuestra saga en cuestión, Suikoden, sino que simplemente aparecen como parte del mismo en segundo plano. No es que sean muchos los aparecidos hasta ahora, y desconozco si hay más, pero aquí voy a exponer los que he ido encontrando por la red, teniendo alguno de ellos ya en mi poder. ¿Empezamos?

Well, today I am going to write a not very extensive article about publications in book format that have appeared in recent years, and have no exclusive content about our favourite saga, Suikoden. They simply appear in the "background". There are not a lot of Suikoden related publications until now, and I don't know if there are more, but here I will expose those which I've been finding on the net, with some of them already in my possession. Minako Isawaki Artworks

Esta persona (岩崎美奈子) es una artista japonesa dedicada al diseño de personajes para videojuegos y de manga en general. Trabajó para la compañía Nihon Falcom en varios proyectos de la saga "Ys". Posteriormente, y ya trabajando por libre, creó personajes de la saga "Harvest Moon" en Wii y NDS, o "The Legend of Heroes" en PSP, entre otros. Si quieres echarle un vistazo, tiene página web propia, aunque buscando en Google también podrás encontrar material, aunque sea de manera dispersa:

This person (岩崎 美奈子) is a Japanese artist dedicated to design characters for video games and manga in general. She worked for Nihon Falcom company in various "Ys" series projects. El libro que nos ocupa es su primer Artbook, como el propio título nos indica, que contiene 276 ilustraciones y un poster en A3 en 128 páginas, siendo su fecha de publicación el 1 de Julio de 2006. En él aparecen diversas imágenes de Suikoden, las cuales muestro a continuación, y que han sido utilizadas, por ejemplo, para el juego Suikoden Card Stories:

This book is the first of her Artbooks, as the title itself indicates. It contains 276 illustrations and an A3 poster in 128 pages, and its publication date of July 1, 2006. This book is not very hard to find today, although it was published six years ago. Ebay, Play-Asia, Amazon Japan, Yahoo Auctions, and many different online stores sell this book for 20 euros on average.

Este libro que estoy comentando es el sexto de los volúmenes que han editado, y que se centra en imágenes del Suikoden Tactics (Rhapsodia), Suikoden V y Suikoden Tierkreis, aparte de otros juegos de Konami. Seguro que si has disfrutado de los juegos mencionados, ¡los artworks te van a sonar mucho! Fue sacado a la venta el 19 de agosto de 2009 en Japón, teniendo un total de 127 páginas, conteniendo tanto los artworks en color como dibujos en blanco y negro.

This book that I am reviewing is the sixth of the volumes that they have published, which focuses on images of Suikoden Tactics (Rhapsodia), Suikoden V and Suikoden Tierkreis, apart from other Konami games. If you've enjoyed the games that I've mentioned, you are going to recognize the artworks, for sure! It was released on August 19, 2009 in Japan, with a total of 127 pages, containing color artworks and black and white drawings.

Aunque se editó posteriormente al libro de Minako Iwasaki, éste es un poco más difícil de encontrar. Quedan unidades todavía disponibles en Amazon Japón, y alguna en ebay. Si sabes buscar, seguro que das con él. El precio oscila entre los 30 y los 60 euros.

Although this book was released later than Minako Iwasaki's, this is a little harder to find. Units are still available on Amazon Japan, and some on ebay. If you know how to search, sure you'll find it. The price ranges between 30 and 60 euros.

 Pop'n Music Character Illustration Book

El tercer libro que voy a comentar es otro artwork. A diferencia de los dos anteriores, éste es un producto licenciado por Konami, así que, como podemos observar, tiene su logo en la propia portada. Fue editado y sacado a la venta el 22 de noviembre de 2007, constando de 192 páginas y mostrando más de 150 personajes (Frey -Suikoden V- entre ellos). Su temática es la de la serie de juegos Pop'n Music, que, como ya sabrás, querido lector, es una saga de juegos musicales muy famosa en Japón.

The third book that I am going to comment is another artwork. Unlike the previous two, this is a licensed product by Konami, so, as we can see, it has the logo on the cover. It was published and released for sale on November 22, 2007. It contains 192 pages, showing more than 150 characters, (Frey -Suikoden V- between them). Its tematic is the Pop'n Music game series, which, as you know, dear reader, is very famous in Japan.

En concreto, este libro hace alusión a los personajes aparecidos en los juegos Pop'n Music 13 Carnival,  14 Fever y 15 Adventure, encuadrando a Frey en el primero de los comentados, pero no vamos a adelantar acontecimientos, ya que escribiré un artículo sobre apariciones del mundo Suikoden en videojuegos más adelante.

Specifically, this book refers to the characters that appeared in Pop'n Music 13 Carnival, 14 Fever and 15 Adventure, relating to Frey in the first of those that I mentioned, but we will not anticipate events, because I will write an article about Suikoden appearances in other games later on.

The Art of Jo Chen Illustration Collection 

Gracias a la colaboración de Nanami, voy a comentar este libro, el cual creo que merece mucho la pena. Jo Chen es una artista taiwanesa con mucho talento afincada en Estados Unidos en la actualidad, la cual trabaja sobre todo haciendo portadas para revistas y cómics. Se hizo muy famosa por tierras americanas gracias a la realización de las portadas de Buffy Cazavampiros. Además trabajó para Capcom, realizando dibujos con la temática de Street Fighter o Devil May Cry, e incluso portadas para comics Marvel o DC.

Thanks to Nanami's collaboration, I will discuss this book, which I think is well worth. Jo Chen is a talented Taiwanese artist that lives in the United States nowadays, who mainly works doing covers for magazines and comics. She became very famous in the USA by performing covers of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She also worked for Capcom, making drawings about Street Fighter and Devil May Cry franchises, even comic covers for Marvel or DC.

El libro que presento a continuación está limitado a 1500 unidades en todo el mundo, que la propia artista vendía en su propia página web en dos versiones: Una especial a 65 USD, y otra normal a 45 USD. Contiene unas 140 páginas de una calidad muy alta. La edición limitada, además del libro, trae una caja de transporte (la foto que ves más arriba), un libro extra de borradores y postales. Además, esta artista suele firmar su trabajos, cosa muy de agradecer.

The book presented below is limited to 1500 units worldwide, which the artist sold on their own website in two versions: a special one for 65 USD, and the normal version for 45 USD. It contains about 140 pages in a very high quality. The limited edition of the book also brings a carrying case (see the photo above), an extra book with sketches in black and white, and postcards. Furthermore, this artist usually signs her work, which is very welcome.

La posibilidad de encontrar una copia hoy en día es bastante escasa, aunque no imposible. De vez en cuando se deja caer algún ejemplar por Taobao, pero eso sí, a un precio bastante más elevado que el precio de venta puesto por la propia autora.

The possibility of finding a copy today is quite low, but not impossible. Occasionally you can see a copy on Taobao, but be careful, with a price substantially higher than the selling price set by the author.

Kaori Fujita es una artista de reconocido prestigio dentro del mundo del videojuego, puesto que ha realizado diversos trabajos para RPGs, entre ellos para el Suikoden V, Policenauts, o uno de los Castlevania de GBA, aunque también realiza ilustraciones para juegos de cartas coleccionables, entre otras cosas.

 

Kaori Fujita is a renowned artist inside the video game world, because she has done several jobs for RPGs, including Suikoden V, Policenauts, or one Castlevania for GBA, but also makes illustrations for trading card games, among other things.

 

El libro que comento tiene 120 páginas, todas ellas de una gran calidad y a todo color, y está divido en cinco secciones, con una introducción en cada una de ellas de la propia autora. Su fecha de lanzamiento fue el 27 de marzo de 2007, con un precio de salida de 2520 yens.

Pues como su propio nombre indica, es un libro dedicado a partituras, en concreto para solos de piano, encontrándose entre ellas un tema de Suikoden V. Si eres un amante del piano, o sabes tocar, y además te gusta Suikoden, este es tu libro!

Suikoden Day 2012

Aquí estoy, mi querido lector, para hablarte esta vez del evento que tuvo lugar a finales del mes pasado, siendo su segunda edición, y que ha congregado en Facebook a más de dos mil personas venidas de todos los rincones del planeta.

Here I am, my dear reader, this time to talk about the event that took place in the end of last month, being its second edition, and gathering more than two thousand people in Facebook, coming from all over the world.
 

Como te acabo de comentar, es un evento celebrado el día 30 de noviembre a nivel mundial, en el que se ha congregado gente venida de diversas culturas o lugares para poder comentar por una vez al año todo lo relacionado con la saga Suikoden. Por supuesto, aparte de la reunión de fans de la saga, la intención que se tiene al reunir a todas estas personas es demostrar a Konami que sería rentable el realizar y producir una nueva entrega de la serie principal, ya que hay seguidores acérrimos suficientes como para que dicho producto pueda salir adelante. Recordemos que, como dicho día no se cuenta al mismo tiempo, debido a las diferentes zonas horarias del planeta, realmente el Suikoden Day ha durado varios días, ¡por lo que ha sido mejor si cabe!

As I have just said, is an event celebrated on November 30 worldwide, which has congregated people coming from different cultures or places to comment for once in a year everything related to the Suikoden series. Of course, apart from meeting fans of the series, which is intended with gathering all those people is to show Konami that it would be profitable to make and produce a new release of the main series, as there are enough strong followers to see the production as a reality. Remember, that day is not counted at the same time in the whole world, due to the different time zones, so Suikoden Day actually lasted several days, so it was even better!

Ahora, como reflexión final, me gustaría comentar qué ha significado para mí el Suikoden Day, ¡por supuesto!

Pues me he sentido de alguna forma, "comprendido" de nuevo. He visto cómo gente de todo el mundo compartía las mismas sensaciones en la misma línea que un servidor, y que aquello que no podías decir con nadie cercano, debido a su incomprensión y falta de conocimiento, o simplemente porque no quieras que te vuelvan a llamar "friki" una vez más, ha podido salir de tus dedos en forma de palabras, y que otros han leído, comprendiéndolo a la par que discutían o reflexionaban sobre ello. Todo un placer para mis "sentidos Suikodianos", jejejeje.

Well, I felt somehow "understood" again. I've seen how people around the world shared the same feelings in the same line as me, and what you could not say to anyone who are closer to you, due to misunderstanding and lack of knowledge, or just because you do not want that somebody calls you "freak" once again, has gotten out of your fingers into words, and others have read it with understanding at the same time that discussed or considered it. A pleasure for my "Suikodian senses", hehehehe.

 

He intentado participar en todo lo que mi trabajo me ha dejado, incluso haciendo un dibujillo de mi personaje preferido, Georg Prime. No se ha ganado, pero lo importante era participar, tampoco tenía la pretensión de ganar, la verdad, ¡sobre todo después de ver el nivel tan bueno que existía en el concurso! Verdaderos artistas, sin duda...

I have tried to participate in all that I could in my free time because of my job, even doing a drawing of my favorite character, Georg Prime. I have not won, but the main thing was to participate. I really had no intention of winning, especially after seeing the great level of the other contestants, that was so good! True artists, no doubt...

Also I would like to thank all the organizers and judges for the development of what took place that special November 30. I copy here the lines that I wrote on facebook:

 

"Well, I wanted to thank you all for making me spend one of the best days that I can remember. I enjoyed reading each article, admiring each drawing or cosplays, or just with every comment written... I have found myself saying that in fact "I am not alone". The Suikoden series is so much alive, and together, we can make that Suikoden VI will be released in the future! I say goodbye (for now) to all of you, saying until next time! Thank you, thank you very much!!!"

 

Quiero agradecer "públicamente" y personalmente desde aquí a Nanami, puesto que, como ya le escribí personalmente, a ella le debo el haberme enseñado que el Suikoden Day existía. Hasta hace cosa de un año, yo era un coleccionista y seguidor de esta serie, digámoslo así, "pasivo" o "dormido", puesto que no compartía con nadie aquello que realizaba; simplemente buscaba información por internet en foros, páginas y demás para conseguir mi objetivo, pero nunca participando.

I want to thank "openly" and personally from here to Nanami. As I wrote to her in private, I owe her showing me that Suikoden Day existed. Until about a year ago, I was, we can say,  a "passive" or "asleep"collector and fan of this series. I did not share with anyone what I was doing. I just looked for information online in forums and other sites for achieve my goal, but never participating in them.
 

Un día, Nanami leyó en un foro de compra-venta de videojuegos que yo estaba buscando las versiones promocionales de Suikoden en versión PAL. Ni corta ni perezosa me escribió un mail para preguntarme si era un Suikofan, y desde entonces he intercambiado algún que otro mail con ella; una de las personas más agradables que he conocido, sin duda alguna. En cierta forma, aunque han influido otra serie de factores determinantes en mi vida, gracias a ella me he "abierto" al mundo y empecé a investigar más acerca de lo que creo decir sin temor a equivocarme, nuestra saga favorita, y también por ello creando este blog.

One day, Nanami read in a videogames forum that I was looking for promotional Suikoden PAL versions. Without hesitation, she wrote me an email to ask if I was a Suikofan, and since then I have exchanged some mails with her. She is one of the nicest people that I've ever met, no doubt. Somewhat, although other factors have influenced in my life this year, thanks to her I "opened" my mind to the world and started to do more researching about what I say without fear of contradiction, our favorite saga, and also why I created this blog.
 

Tal y como le escribí, es algo así como sentirse "más vivo" toda esta experiencia, lo que se ha visto acrecentado por el Suikoden Day, ya que es como si una parte de ti mismo despertara y completara tu existencia.

 

As I wrote her, this experience is like feeling "more alive", which has been enhanced by Suikoden Day, because it is as if a part of me woke up and complete my life.
